AXELROD TIMELINE


[Axelrod Truck]1896 Wolf Axelrod began delivering sour cream, sweet cream, pot cheese and farmers cheese from a horse and wagon.


1920 Wolf Axelrod retired, and his son Abraham Axelrod, took over the business.


1930 A branch office opened in Freeport, NY.


1932 The Axelrod family sold the business to a subsidiary of National Dairy Products (now known as Kraft Foods, Inc.). Abraham Axelrod continued as general manager.


1938 Abraham Axelrod re-started his own business.


1949 The first Axelrod labeled packaged product -- pint-sized plain yogurt -- was in local markets.


1961 Abraham Axelrod sold his family business to Crowley Foods, Inc. He retired at the end of that year, succeeded by his son, Herbert, who became president and CEO.


1988 Herbert Axelrod retired, ending the Axelrod's family involvement in the company.


1996 Axelrod celebrates 100 years of Dairy production.


2001 Axelrod Foods, Inc. becomes a division of Crowley Foods, Inc.
